The Labour Day weekend is drawing to a close, spelling the end of the hot and sunny summer break and a return to school!
Everywhere, students of all ages are getting ready to go back to classes and to school day routines. Most will be looking forward to seeing their classmates, meeting their teachers and taking part in new activities. Some of the younger children may be a little nervous, not knowing what to expect.
At DASO, the excitement has been building for the past few weeks as the children and adolescents staying at the shelter were given brand new school supplies. Generous friends and donors in the community included Jennifer Oatman Coelho who once again supplied fabulous ThirtyOne lunch thermals, while the staff at Alexandra Hospital in Ingersoll put together “back to school” knapsacks filled with a great assortment of school supplies. On behalf of the kids, their mothers and the staff at DASO, thank you to all who helped make sure this school year gets off to the best possible start.
If you’d like to help, it’s not too late to contribute – we can always use drink boxes and lunch/afterschool snack items. Or click here for other ways to give and feel free to contact us anytime to discuss other options and ideas.
All the best to students everywhere for a happy, healthy and safe school year!
