Ingamo Family Homes is a second-stage transitional program with a housing component (for up to one year).  Rent is geared-to-income. Support programs are designed to assist women with ongoing safety, providing information and advocacy with the systems that impact their lives. Assistance in securing financial resources and permanent affordable housing is also available. A children's program is offered with parenting support and activities. Applications are accepted through self-referrals, women's shelters and other supporting agencies.

This regional program is for Oxford County residents who require a sexual assault kit.  The Sexual Assault team is available 24 hours a day via the emergency department at St. Joseph's Health Care.  Where there is police involvement, police will provide transportation. The program provides counselling, referrals, documentation, testing for sexually transmitted disease and assessment for HIV & AIDS. The program is accessed through the emergency department of St. Joseph's Hospital.

CAS provides protection and group treatment services to children ages 0 to 16 who have been abused or neglected. CAS also provides a school-based Sexual Abuse Prevention Program in conjunction with the Boards of Education. A Child Victim Witness Program assists children who have been abused receive counseling prior to having to present evidence in court. The Children's Aid Society can be contacted on a 24-hour basis. A variety of parenting programs, foster care resource and adoption services are also available.

CMHA Oxford works to promote the mental health of all people.  There are four components to the program:  

1.  Crisis response:   Professionally trained crisis support workers who are members of a 24-hour mobile team respond by phone and/or personal contact to callers who are experiencing sudden and/or unexpected events that put them in distress.  519-539-8342 or 1-877-339-8342

2.  Case management:  Professionally trained community support workers provide individualized community-based support for adults with a severe and persistent mental illness. 

3.  Supportive Housing:  Provision of independent living permanent housing via congregate housing and/or individualized apartment units for adults who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless that respects client choice. This housing is supported by CMHA at a level corresponding to client's needs. 

4.  Court Diversion/Court Support:  Provides options/support to individuals with a mental disorder who have come in contact with the criminal justice system. These options/support require voluntary agreement of the Crown Attorney and indviduals involved.

Oxford County Public Health works with the community and agencies to promote violence prevention.  The nursing division provides a variety of health promotion and disease prevention services. 

• The Health Matters Line has a nurse available for consultation on health issues and community resources
• Clinical Nursing Services provides counselling and clinical services for family planning, sexual health and immunization issues
• Children in Need of Dental Treatment provides treatment for children in need of emergency or essential care for children up to Grade 8 where the cost of necessary care would create financial hardship
• Well Baby Clinics provide consultation on infant development and breast feeding support to mothers and children to 2 years of age.

Legal Aid may be available to assist you with the cost of a lawyer depending on your financial status and your particular legal issue. A two-hour consultation voucher and a list of family law lawyers who take Legal Aid is available for women who have been abused.

A Family Law Information Clinic (FLIC) is available to women who do not have a lawyer for consultation at the courthouse on Wednesdays from 1 to 4 p.m.  No appointment needed; offered on a first come, first served basis.

A community response program that provides immediate short-term crisis intervention services to persons affected by crime or tragedy.  A variety of crisis intervention services are offered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Trained staff and volunteers provide emotional support, practical assistance and an information and referal program on site or by telephone. Services are voluntary, confidential, and free of charge. Individuals may call the office Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for community referrals or information.
