Home is where we feel safe, comfortable and loved. Home means strengthening bonds with family and friends. Home is where we make happy memories. But for many in Oxford County, home is not a safe, comforting haven. For women, children and adolescents living with domestic abuse, home can mean fear, pain, darkness and anxiety. And during the holiday season, these feelings may intensify. Christmas is a also a particularly despairing time for those without a home to go to at all.

It doesn’t have to be that way! At Domestic Abuse Services Oxford (DASO), we work hard every day of the year to bring light and hope into the lives of women, children and teenagers who are impacted by domestic abuse and/or homelessness. We offer:

  • Safe haven in our 24/7 high security 21-bed shelter, Oxford’s ONLY year-round shelter;
  • Effective, comprehensive community-based programs including counselling, transitional and court support to help women rebuild their lives and their families;
  • Help when they call us on our 24-hour crisis/information/support line, available to all in the community.

Since opening our doors in 1974, we have provided protection, prevention and possibilities to more than 16,500 women, children and adolescents. We accomplish this with help from people like YOU, supporters who are concerned, caring people who know that by working together we can end the vicious cycle of domestic abuse in the communities of Oxford County.

Help us help! As you ready your home for the holiday season, will you take a moment to consider a financial gift to help sustain our essential programs and services? There are many, easy and secure ways to donate. Simply click on the “Donate Now” button on our website for all the information.

You can make a difference! Your donation, big or small, will bring light, hope and positive change to families living amid abuse and despair. Domestic Abuse Services stands as a beacon and a refuge from domestic abuse and/or homelessness. As we approach our 45th anniversary of service in Oxford County, we remain steadfast in our commitment to the important work we do because we know we make a difference in the lives of so many.

From everyone at DASO, from our home to your home, we wish you peace, health and happiness over the Christmas season and into the New Year.
