Get ready… Men in Heels & Lunch on Wheelsis fast approaching! We hope you can join us on Thursday, June 1, 2017 at Museum Square in downtown Woodstock. The event goes from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with two “walk” times at 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. for those willing to don the high heels for a short walk (no problem if you want to wear your own shoes as many participants prefer) but feel free to drop by any time for as long as you can stay. Women and children and teens are also welcome to join in the walk or observe the fun from the sidelines.

This festive fundraiser for DASO will include great food trucks and coincides with the Thursday downtown outdoor market so there will be lots of tasty options for lunch!

What can you expect to see? Those of you who are familiar with the Walk a Mile in Her Shoes® events will understand the reason behind men walking for DASO. It’s a visible show of support and a fun, quirky way to call attention to a very serious issue: physical and sexual violence against women. After a three-year hiatus those big red shoes are coming out of storage to star in a revised new fundraising event. Men in Heels asks participants to take just a little time out of their lunch hour to help us raise money to fund vital programs and services for women who have been physically or sexually assaulted.

Thanks to the remarkable efforts of Event Chairs Diane Langner (Woodstock Print & Litho) and Leslie Farrell (Tim Hortons on Norwich Ave.) the inaugural Men in Heels promises to be a spirited and successful opportunity for the community to come together to support efforts to end the violence. Our generous partners include “stiletto” sponsor Vuteq Canada Ltd. along with Royal Bank of Canada, Woodstock Print & Litho, Tim Hortons on Norwich Ave., Home Hardware and many other organizations and individuals.

We hope to see you there. But if you can’t make it that day you can still play a part by making a pledge. All amounts are welcome and appreciated and donations can be made online by clicking here. To everyone involved with the first annual Men in Heels & Lunch on Wheels, we THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts – and the heel tips of our big red shoes!
